Baby Bank Alliance Impact Report 2024

Across the UK, baby banks are stepping up as more families fall into hardship. In 2024, they supported an estimated 220,000 families. Together, they distributed over 3.5 million essential items1 — from nappies and prams to books and cots.

But behind this powerful story of community support lies a growing crisis. With 4.5 million children now living in poverty2, demand is rising faster than baby banks can respond.

180 baby banks submitted their 2024 data to the Baby Bank Alliance. This gives us the clearest picture yet of the sector’s scale, impact and strain. Shockingly, 65% of baby banks say they are turning families away. Not because they want to, but because they simply don’t have enough items or funding.

With over 400 baby banks operating across the UK, this second Impact Report captures the story of around half of the sector. It shows progress from last year and underlines that the true national impact is even greater.
